The majestic halls of the castle cellars with the unique atmosphere highlight the vast collections of sculptures by probably the most famous Czech sculptor of recent decades. The fate brought Olbram Zoubek to Litomyšl in the 1970s when he worked on the restoration of the castle sgraffitoes with a team of restorers for several seasons. He found a second home in the town and so it is not surprising that the largest collection of his sculptures in the Czech Republic has settled here. The master himself will guide you through the exhibition in the cellars of the Litomyšl castle by means of the audio guide commentary.
In the castle cellar you will also find the famous wax Heart for Václav Havel. Lukáš Gavlovský and Roman Švejda made the sculpture from thousands of candles lit in squares and streets in honor of the first democratic president after 1989. The wax sculpture, to which the cool environment of the cellar provides an ideal refuge, can be viewed in the room designed by the architect Josef Pleskot.
A unique range of Chateau Litomyšl wines has also found its place in the castle cellars. Wines from the production of Moravian winemakers have ideal conditions for bottle maturation in the cellars. The chateau wine shop invites you to taste the wines and offers a stylish environment for celebrations or corporate events.
