When the rooms carved into the sandstone rocks in Zderaz were created, no one exactly knows today. In some opinions, their origin may date back to the times of the Thirty Years' War (early 17th century), when they were supposed to protect the harvest from the attacking troops. We can say for sure that in the 19th century, they have already served the locals as cellars, workshops and even dwellings. Out of the original fifty cellars, 27 have been preserved to this day. Mostly they are privately owned, but four of them are open to the public. So you can see the period equipment and rooms that served as a cowshed or a fruit drying room. In the exposition you will also find photos of other preserved cellars and get acquainted with the history of the village of Zderaz.
