Bedřich Smetana's birthplace in Litomyš

One of the rooms of the Castle Brewery witnessed the birth as well as the first musical steps of Bedřich Smetana in the early 19th century. The atmosphere of the flat of Smetana's father, a brewer, will take you to the times of the composer's childhood. One of the founders of Czech national music is also commemorated by a number of personal belongings.

The national festival Smetana's Litomyšl also pays tribute to Bedřich Smetana annually at the beginning of summer when the castle courtyard and other places in the town resound with famous melodies for several weeks.

Description

One of the rooms of the castle brewery witnessed the birth and first musical steps of Bedřich Smetana at the beginning of the 19th century. The atmosphere of the apartment of Smetana's father, the brewer, will take you back to the composer's childhood. A number of personal objects also commemorate one of the founders of Czech national music.
